RIDE RULES |
The DANHOG membership is well in excess of 200 and
growing rapidly, so now might be a good time to give a friendly reminder to
members of the dangers of riding in a large group of motorcycles:
1. |
Make sure you have fuelled up prior to the ride and have a full tank of petrol,
everyone else will. |
2. |
Make sure your bike is mechanically
ready for a run, otherwise you will just inconvenince others, or even the
entire group. |
3. |
No bald tires. |
4. |
Listen to the Road Captain's
instructions before each ride. The directions and any changes will be detailed
at this meeting. If you have any questions ask them at this time.
5. |
Never, ever, pass the Road Captain.
The Road Captains have been given the responsibility to set the pace and get to
the final location as a group safely.
6. |
Stay in the same lane as the Road
Captain, riding in a staggered formation where appropriate - not side by side.
Frustrated drivers, blocked by a group of bikes spread accross several lanes,
are dangerous.
7. |
Remember, on winding roads formation riding is
not necessary.
8. |
Constantly check on the position of the rider behind you. If you find yourself
at the end of a group that has split up, wait and direct the remaining group
at the corner of the next turn - and look out for "Tail End Charlie".
9. |
Sometimes you may find the group is split by traffic lights or the lag effect.
Never, ever rush through the lights trying to catch the group ahead. If you
find yourself at the front of a group that has been split, just keep riding
straight ahead and do not turn until you see a rider at the next turn directing
you. Should you ever get lost, don't panic. Either calmly make your way home,
and enjoy the ride, or head direct to the ride destination if you know where it
is, but above all do not make any rash manouvers.
10. |
If you break down wait for Tail end Charlie to stop and assist you. |
